— 02 / Station routing

Prep, grill, fryer, expo — each sees only what they cook.

Configure per-station: which dishes route where. Prep sees the salads + cold apps. Grill sees the burgers + steaks. Fryer sees the fries + nuggets. Expo sees everything just before send-out. Each station's KDS shows only its tickets.

  • Per-dish station routing
  • Station-specific KDS view
  • Expo consolidates the final pass

Any screen. iPad. Android tablet. Old TV.

KDS runs on any screen with a browser — iPad, Android tablet, even an old TV with an Amazon Fire Stick. No proprietary hardware to buy. We've seen people run KDS on a $40 Walmart tablet for 18 months.

  • iPad · Android tablet · web kiosk · TV browser
  • Touch-optimized — works with gloves
  • $0 hardware investment if you have a screen

★★★★★

Ticket time dropped 4 minutes on day one. After two weeks we were 6 minutes faster than paper. The urgent flag alone caught 3 tickets that would have walked.

Questions

Asked and answered.

Do I need new hardware?+
No. Any screen with a browser works — iPad, Android tablet, old TV with a Fire Stick. We see $40 Walmart tablets running KDS for years.
What about offline?+
Local cache + sync. If WiFi drops, tickets keep flowing on the existing KDS; new ones queue and sync on reconnect.
Can I print physical tickets too?+
Yes — KDS + ticket printer can run in parallel. Most kitchens migrate fully to KDS within 30 days.
What about the dining room expediter?+
Expo lane consolidates the final station. Expediter sees the full plate-up checklist, bumps when sent.
